PATON equipment is among the few on the market that regulate input voltage—this is especially important when devices are powered by generators or unstable power sources. It is also worth noting the actual values of the set welding current: a device with a rated current of 160 A reaches 160 A at maximum adjustment, just like the 200 A and 250 A models. Many inexpensive MMA welding machines on the market typically reach only about 70% of their rated current at maximum settings.

It is also important to consider the duty cycle of these machines. The duty cycle refers to the operating time at a given current range within a 10-minute cycle. PATON Economy inverter welders have a 40% duty cycle, meaning about 4 minutes of operation at maximum welding current within a 10-minute period. Typical competitors offer 3 minutes (30%) or 2 minutes (20%) in the same cycle. These devices can operate in temperatures ranging from -25°C to +45°C.
