- SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding): Ideal for welding carbon steels, stainless steels, cast iron, and non-ferrous metals. The pulsed current feature allows for precise and efficient welding, even in challenging conditions.
- GTAW DC (Gas Tungsten Arc Welding – Direct Current): A highly precise arc welding method in an inert gas shield, perfect for tasks requiring the utmost accuracy. The option to use pulsed current provides even greater control over the process.
- GMAW (Gas Metal Arc Welding): This CC/CV device enables semi-automatic welding with solid wire (MIG/MAG) or self-shielded flux-cored wire (FCAW-S, FCAW-G) when an external wire feeder is connected. As a result, the Inverter Welder PATON™ PRO 200 can be transformed into a lightweight, portable, modular machine, delivering high performance across a wide range of materials.
MAXIMUM PERFORMANCE IN A COMPACT DESIGN
The PATON™ PRO-200 is a versatile tool, ideal for a wide range of applications across industries—from repair and maintenance work to industrial production and smaller workshop projects. With a solid duty cycle of 70% at a rated current of 200A and 100% at 167A, the PATON™ PRO-200 ensures reliable performance even in the most demanding conditions.
This compact machine is a practical choice for professionals requiring precision welding equipment in various industrial and workshop environments. A critical factor in the effective operation of this welder is maintaining a nominal current range of 23 to 27A, ensuring optimal functionality. The Inverter Welder PATON™ PRO 200 is equipment you can depend on, no matter the challenges ahead.
The Inverter Welder PATON™ PRO 200 is engineered for maximum versatility and user convenience, allowing for precise welding with electrodes of various coatings. The default slope of the current-voltage characteristic (CVS) is set to 1.4 V/A, which works optimally with popular rutile and rutile-cellulose electrodes, such as the PATON™ 6013 ELITE. These electrodes are widely used in general construction, repair work, and thin sheet metal welding applications.
To ensure the best performance with basic-coated electrodes (e.g., PATON™ 7018 ELITE, PATON™ 7015 ELITE), it is recommended to adjust the CVS slope to 1.0 V/A, which enhances arc stability and improves weld quality. These electrodes are ideal for welding thick steel structures, bridges, and load-bearing components where joint strength is critical.
For cellulose-coated electrodes, an optimal CVS slope ranges from 0.2 to 0.6 V/A. Cellulose electrodes, such as E6010 and E6011, are excellent for challenging field conditions, where weld reliability and durability are paramount. The E6010 electrode, known for its deep penetration and stable arc, is especially recommended for pipe welding and structures in the oil and gas industry, particularly in vertical positions, including downhill welding. To further improve arc stability, increasing the “Arc-Force” function to 18V is advised, providing better control and higher weld quality.
ADJUSTABLE “HOT START” PARAMETERS
The “Hot Start” function allows precise tuning of initial arc ignition parameters during the welding process. Users can adjust two key parameters:
Hot Start Power [H.St]:
- This parameter determines the intensity with which the “Hot Start” function influences electrode ignition. Setting the value to minimum significantly reduces energy consumption during the initial phase, allowing ignition at a voltage close to the minimum range.
- Increasing the “Hot Start” power maximizes ignition intensity, which is advantageous in stable network conditions. However, it is important to note that setting this parameter too high may result in burn-through when welding thin metals.
Hot Start Duration [t.HS]:
- This parameter controls the duration of the “Hot Start” function. Adjusting this setting allows users to modify the length of the intensified ignition period based on the thickness of the welded material and process requirements. Setting the “Hot Start” duration too long may necessitate a strong power supply, as insufficient power could lead to ignition issues.
ADJUSTABLE ARC FORCE PARAMETERS
The adjustable Arc Force parameters are a key feature that allow precise tuning of welding characteristics to meet specific material and task requirements. This function enables users to manually adjust arc force, offering dual benefits:
- Gentle Operations on Thin Materials: Lowering the Arc Force setting to its minimum is ideal for working with thin metals. This adjustment not only conserves energy and optimizes heat distribution but also minimizes the risk of burn-through. However, it’s important to note that arc stability at this setting may be slightly reduced, similar to the behavior of traditional transformer-based power sources.
- Enhanced Arc Stability: For tasks demanding exceptional arc stability, the Arc Force function can be increased to its highest level. This setting ensures excellent stability for a short arc, which is crucial for achieving high-quality welds. Keep in mind that this requires a stable power supply and may slightly increase the risk of burn-through on thinner materials.
PRECISE AND DURABLE WELDS
PATON International’s pulse welding technology, encompassing both GTAW LIFT and SMAW PULSE methods, ensures exceptional durability and strength of the weld.
TIG LIFT PULSE allows for precise welding with controlled arc ignition by touching the tungsten electrode to the material and then lifting it (LIFT). When the device detects this motion, it interprets it as a signal to initiate the welding process, resulting in a linear increase in welding current up to the set value. The pulsed function in this method regulates the welding current in pulses, enabling precise control over heat input, which prevents overheating of the material. This allows for high-quality welds, especially when welding thin materials or in challenging welding positions.
SMAW PULSE AND SHORT ARC: STABLE ARC AND ENHANCED CONTROL
The SMAW PULSE method uses a pulsed current technique for shielded metal arc welding, where the base current stabilizes the welding arc, allowing for thorough melting of both the electrode and material edges. The pulsed current facilitates spatter-free transfer of molten metal into the weld pool, minimizing the risk of short circuits.
VOLTAGE STABILIZATION FOR LONG EXTENSION CORDS AND GENERATOR POWER
The Inverter Welder PATON™ PRO 200 is equipped with a voltage drop protection system, enabling optimal operation at a rated current of 200A even under challenging conditions. This welder maintains efficiency when powered through long extension cords—up to 125 meters with a 4 mm² cross-section or 75 meters with a 2.5 mm² cross-section—and also performs reliably when connected to power generators.
The voltage stabilization system effectively mitigates fluctuations, providing stable regulation, increased safety, and prolonged device lifespan. With an operating voltage range of 160V to 260V, the welder is versatile and dependable under various power conditions.
The PATON™ PRO 200 can be powered by various types of generators, provided they meet specific technical parameters. It is recommended to use generators with automatic voltage regulation (AVR) or equivalent systems and rated power consistent with the specifications in the user manual. For smooth and safe operation, the generator’s output voltage should range between 160V and 260V.
To support welding with Ø5 mm electrodes and TIG welding with tungsten electrodes up to Ø3.0 mm at a rated current of up to 200A, as well as MIG/MAG solid wire welding with a diameter of Ø1.0 mm, a minimum generator power of 7.7 kVA is recommended.
For welding with Ø0.8 mm solid wire and Ø3 mm electrodes at currents up to 120A, a generator with a minimum power output of 4.5 kVA will be sufficient.
INTEGRATED WELDING PARAMETER MEMORY: FASTER SETUP AND GREATER EFFICIENCY
Our welding unit allows users to store up to 16 programs in each mode—SMAW, GTAW, and GMAW. When powered on, it automatically starts with program number 1, and any changes to the settings are instantly saved. With simple one-button program switching, you can quickly return to your preferred settings, minimizing downtime. The unit’s memory enables storage of parameters for various tasks, reducing setup time and optimizing the welding process.
FAN STOP DYNAMICS AND ERGONOMIC BODY ENGINEERING
PROTECTION CLASS IP33
The welder’s housing is rated IP33, meaning it is protected against the intrusion of foreign objects larger than 2.5 mm and water droplets falling at up to a 60° angle from vertical. This level of protection ensures safe and effective operation during light rain or accidental splashes. However, caution is advised, as welding in heavy rain can still pose an electric shock risk, especially on damp surfaces.
ADVANCED COOLING SYSTEM
The unit’s unique design and optimized airflow through the cooling chamber significantly enhance component lifespan, durability, and duty cycle, even in heavily dust-laden industrial environments. Additionally, the welder features an advanced adaptive fan speed control system, which automatically shuts off the fans when the welder is in idle mode.
